About this pack
346 pixel art combat effects on exact 64x64 cells (2174 frames): sword slashes, thrusts and claws drawn in 8 directions, hits, impacts, criticals, parry, ground slam, dust and status loops. For action RPGs, top-down adventures, platformers, brawlers and roguelikes.
Licence in one line: use them in your commercial games; do not resell the files. No credit required.
What you get
- 6 attacks in 8 directions (right, down-right, down, down-left, left, up-left, up, up-right): slash, heavy slash, double slash, thrust, claw and a flying sword wave. 6 colours each: 288 animations.
- 7 round effects: spin slash, cross slash, hit spark, impact, critical hit, parry and ground slam, 6 colours each (42 animations).
- Movement dust: landing, jump, dash (right and left) and a poof, in dirt and snow (10 animations).
- 6 status loops (32x32): stunned, poisoned, burning, frozen, bleeding, sleeping.
- 6 colours: steel, fire, frost, shock, venom, arcane. Every effect on one sheet per colour.
Made to drop in
- Drawn in 8 directions, not rotated: every direction is drawn by its own rule on the pixel grid, so diagonals stay crisp. Left-hand directions mirror the right-hand ones, so side-view characters swing the same way both ways.
- A JSON for every sheet with every frame's rectangle, the suggested fps, loop or play-once, the anchor point (the attacker's centre, the hit point or the feet) and the hit frame where damage should land.
- Exact 64x64 cells (status loops 32x32), nothing touching the cell edge, 1-bit alpha, no outlines: they sit on any floor.
- Sheets and single PNGs at 1x, 2x and 3x, plus the palette (.hex, .gpl).
- The screenshots use Gridwright Dungeon Tileset, Top-Down Characters, Pixel Monsters, Platformer Tileset and Side-View Characters (each sold separately, not included).
Try before you buy
The free sample has 12 animations (73 frames): the steel slash in all 8 directions, a hit spark, a parry, landing dust and the stunned loop, with the same sheets and JSON.
What it does not include
No sound, no Aseprite files, no engine project files or particle systems. No explosions, beams or spell effects (those are in Gridwright Pixel VFX). The art is drawn at 64x64 and 32x32; the 2x and 3x files are scaled copies.
Licence
Use and modify in personal and commercial projects. Shipping the effects inside your game is fine. No resale or redistribution of the assets, modified or not. Credit is appreciated, not required. Not for AI training or NFTs.
How it was made
Every frame is drawn by code: each effect is a rule that draws arcs, strokes, rings and puffs per frame in the attack's own direction and bands them onto a 5-tone colour ramp. The code was written with AI-assisted tools. No image generator was used, and no third-party art is included.
