About this pack
10 animated Halloween pixel art monsters for isometric games, in 8 directions, on exact 64x64 cells: 2,864 frames. Made for the 32x16 diamond of Gridwright Isometric Tiles, Interiors and Graveyard & Crypt, and for any 2:1 isometric map. For tactics and action RPGs, survivors-likes, roguelikes, tower defense and strategy games.
Put these monsters in a scene: all 10 are in the Gridwright Isometric Builder (8 directions, idle animation), an isometric map maker that runs in your browser, with all seven Gridwright isometric packs inside and Godot, Tiled and PNG export.
Licence in one line: use them in your commercial games; do not resell the files. No credit required.
Every direction is drawn, none is mirrored, and every monster has a spawn animation: the zombie climbs out of its grave, the ghost fades in, the pumpkin knight wakes as its face lights up, the imp rises out of flames, the golem assembles from rocks, the bat swoops in, the spider drops down on a thread, the slime forms out of a puddle and the wraith rises from a dark pool.
The cast (size of the figure in its cell)
- Zombie: shambles, a grab and a bite, rises from its grave (24x37 px).
- Ghost: floats and wails: lunges with a scream, fades in and dissolves away (22x25 px).
- Wraith: a hooded reaper that glides: a wide scythe sweep, rises from a dark pool, sinks into the ground (44x48 px).
- Vampire Bat: flies, dives to bite, hangs upside down asleep, swoops in from above (38x35 px).
- Werewolf: lopes, two claw swipes, throws back its head and howls (34x40 px).
- Pumpkin Knight: a jack-o'-lantern head, a sword and a lantern; a slash; wakes kneeling as its face lights up (26x38 px).
- Giant Spider: eight legs that really walk: rears up and bites, curls up and flips, drops down on a thread (32x25 px).
- Slime: hops, lunges with a gulp, melts into a puddle, forms out of one (20x18 px).
- Imp: a small winged demon: flies, casts a fireball, is summoned in flames (34x32 px).
- Stone Golem: heavy: a two-fist slam, crumbles to rocks, assembles from them (24x34 px).
The animations (all 8 directions)
- Idle (4), move (6-8: walk, run, crawl, hop, float or fly), attack (6-7), hurt (3), death (7, it stays down) and a spawn (7) for every monster.
- Extras: the werewolf howls (6) and the bat roosts (4): it hangs upside down asleep, for under a branch or a crypt ceiling.
- Effects: the imp's fireball (a 4-frame loop in 8 directions) with its impact (5), and three shadow sprites.
Made to drop in
- One exact cell: every frame is 64x64 at 1x and the anchor always sits on the same point (32, 46): the centre of a ground diamond. Nothing touches the cell's edges.
- A JSON per monster with fps and loop, the anchor, the size of the figure, the hit frames and hit box for each direction, the fireball's spawn point for each direction, the move speed per direction (walkers match their stride, so the feet don't slide), the hover height of flyers and which animation spawns the monster.
- One sheet per animation with a row per direction, and every frame as its own PNG in a folder per direction, at 1x, 2x and 3x, plus the palette (.hex, .gpl). No baked shadows.
- The README gives the placement formula and the draw order for an isometric tile map.
- The scenes in the screenshots use Gridwright Isometric Graveyard & Crypt and heroes from Isometric Characters (sold separately, not included).
Try before you buy
The free sample is the whole Zombie: all 6 of its animations in all 8 directions, with the same sheets, JSON and shadow sprite.
What it does not include
No tiles or heroes (sold separately as Isometric Tiles, Interiors, Graveyard & Crypt and Isometric Characters), no portraits, no sound, no Aseprite files and no engine project files or Unity package. The ghost's fades are dithered, not semi-transparent. The art is drawn at 1x; the 2x and 3x files are scaled copies.
Licence
Use and modify in personal and commercial projects. Shipping the monsters inside your game is fine. No resale or redistribution of the assets, modified or not. Credit is appreciated, not required. Not for AI training or NFTs.
How it was made
Every frame is drawn by code: each monster is a set of 3D parts (spheres, tapered limbs, turned ellipsoids) posed per frame and seen through the same 30-degree isometric camera as Gridwright Isometric Tiles, lit from the top left and banded onto 6-tone colour ramps with outlines. The code was written with AI-assisted tools. No image generator was used, and no third-party art is included.
