About this pack

16 top-down 16x16 pixel art characters, each with 4 directions, an idle and a walk cycle (24 frames per character), plus 12 emote bubbles. Villagers, heroes and townsfolk for RPGs, farming games, adventure games and roguelikes.

Licence in one line: use them in your commercial games; do not resell the files.

What you get

  • 16 characters: Villager, Townswoman, Farmer, Knight, Mage, Rogue, Archer, Merchant, Guard, King, Princess, Elder, Blacksmith, Priest, Adventurer, Pirate.
  • Every character: down, left, right and up; a 2-frame idle and a 4-frame walk. 24 frames.
  • 12 emote bubbles in 2 frames: exclamation, question, heart, music, sweat, anger, sleep, dots, idea, smile, star and no.
  • A shadow to put under the characters.

Made to drop in

  • Strict 16x16 grid, one frame per cell, feet on the bottom rows.
  • One sheet per character in the same layout (6 columns x 4 rows), plus every frame as its own PNG.
  • JSON maps with the frame rectangles and the suggested animation speed.
  • 1x, 2x and 3x of everything.
  • Same grid and style as the Gridwright Top-Down Tileset: the screenshots use it as the ground.

Try before you buy

The free sample has two complete characters (Villager, Adventurer) and four emotes.

Licence

Use and modify in personal and commercial projects. Shipping the sprites inside your game is fine. No resale or redistribution of the assets, modified or not. Credit is appreciated, not required. Not for AI training or NFTs.

How it was made

Every frame is drawn by code: bodies, hair and outfits are pixel layers stacked per frame, with an outline added around each silhouette. The code was written with AI-assisted tools. No image generator was used, and no third-party art is included.
