What's in the pack
A horror top-down 16x16 pixel art tileset: 407 pieces for an abandoned asylum and hospital, with real wall autotiles, doors that open, flickering lights, wall writings and props for every room, plus a lights-out version of every piece (401 more files). For horror RPGs, survival horror, escape rooms, psychological horror, detective games and Halloween jams.
Licence in one line: use it in your commercial games; do not resell the files. No credit required.
What you get
- 47-tile wall autotiles (235 tiles) in 5 finishes: ward paint (cream over institutional green), decayed ward paint (peeling, damp, mould), padded cell, glazed white tiles and basement brick. The finishes share one shape, so every room can have its own and they still join.
- 32 floors: checker tiles, ward linoleum, cracked tiles, wet tiles, stained linoleum, padded mats, concrete and chapel boards, 4 variants each.
- 20 floor overlays: stylised stains, puddles, fallen plaster, scattered papers, broken glass, cracks, muddy footprints, a drain and moonlight falling from a window.
- Darkness: dithered dark tiles (25, 50, 75, 100%) and a flashlight circle in two sizes that joins the dark tiles without a seam.
- 20 door frames: a ward door, a cell door with a window slit and a food hatch, swinging double doors and a bar gate for horizontal walls, and a side door for walls that run up and down the screen, each opening in 4 frames.
- 33 wall decor pieces: barred, broken and boarded windows with moonlight, tube lights that flicker, a blinking exit sign, a stopped clock, a cross, a notice board, a patient chart, a portrait whose eyes move, mirrors, pipes, an open vent with eyes in the dark, a fuse box, an intercom, a medicine cabinet, and original wall writings: HELP, GET OUT, RUN, tally marks, an eye, a spiral, scratches and handprints.
- 61 prop sprites: hospital beds (clean, stained, with restraints, rusty springs), an IV stand, a wheelchair facing 4 ways, a privacy screen, a doll; an operating table, a surgical lamp that flickers, an instrument tray, a glass cabinet, an old treatment machine with a swinging needle, a restraint chair; a nurse station, a desk with a typewriter, filing cabinets; a cot, a straitjacket, a steel toilet, lockers; morgue drawers (one pulled out), an autopsy table, a body bag, gurneys; pews, an altar and candles that flicker; a bathtub; crates, rubble and a fallen beam.
- Lights-out versions: every piece again in a dark, blue night palette with the same names, while the lights (moon, tubes, candles, exit sign) stay lit. Switch a room when the power goes out.
Made to drop in
- Strict 16x16 grid. 50 larger pieces are exact multiples and stand on their bottom row.
- Every file is named after the object (morgue_drawers_open.png, tube_light_f3.png), and the neighbour bitmask is in every wall file name and in tiles.json, so you can wire the walls to any engine.
- No baked shadows, and stains are separate overlays, so you choose how grim each room is.
- Single PNGs and sheets, at 1x, 2x and 3x, and a README with the bitmask diagram and how the darkness tiles join.
- Same grid and view as Gridwright Modern Office & Home, Sci-Fi Interiors and the Top-Down Tileset.
The demo asylum in the screenshots was assembled by a small autotiler from these same tiles. The lights-out screenshot uses the Tiles_Night pieces; the flashlight animation is the normal tiles under dark_100 and flashlight_big from the pack.
What it does not include
No characters or monsters, no Tiled or RPG Maker files and no engine project files. The art is drawn at 16x16; the 2x and 3x files are scaled copies.
Licence
Use and modify in personal and commercial projects. Shipping the tiles inside your game is fine. No resale or redistribution of the assets, modified or not. Credit is appreciated, not required. Not for AI training or NFTs.
How it was made
Every piece is drawn by code: the wall shapes are exact geometry, so the pieces always meet, and the lights-out versions are made by code from the same pieces. The code was written with AI-assisted tools. No image generator was used, and no third-party art is included.
