2D Lights & Glow cover

What's in the pack

Light textures and animated light sprites for 2D games, in a crisp pixel art style and a smooth style: 54 light textures (point lights, lamp halos, floor pools, spotlights, a flashlight beam, window light shafts, god rays, neon glows) and 11 animated lights that loop (torch, campfire, candle, lantern, fireplace, failing fluorescent tube, alarm beacon, police lights, lightning flash, magic pulse, fireflies). Ready for Godot's PointLight2D, Unity's 2D lights, or any engine with an additive blend. For horror, dungeons, night scenes, cozy interiors and neon cities.

Licence in one line: use it in your commercial games; do not resell the files. No credit required.

What you get

  • 54 light textures, each in 2 styles and 2 formats (216 files): radial lights with 4 falloffs (soft, linear, hard, lamp halo) at 64, 128, 256 and 512 px; light pools for floors; spotlights at 30, 60 and 90 degrees and a flashlight beam with a hot spot; light shafts through 5 window shapes (four panes, arched, round, blinds, barred); god rays; neon tube glows.
  • 11 animated lights, 96 frames in each style, as single frames and strips: torch, campfire with rising embers, candle, swinging lantern, fireplace, a fluorescent tube that fails and comes back, a rotating alarm beacon, red and blue police lights, a full-screen lightning flash, a magic pulse and drifting fireflies.
  • 4 colour sets (warm, cold, neon, magic), 6 colours each, as palette files and as 24 tinted glow sprites.
  • 6 overlays: a vignette and a darkness layer with a hole for the player, at 320x180, 640x360 and 1920x1080.

Made to drop in

  • Two styles: pixel (chunky cells and 6 flat bands, so the light matches pixel art) and smooth.
  • Two formats: alpha (white light in the alpha channel, for engine lights: tint it with the light's colour) and add (grey on black, for additive sprites).
  • Clean edges, checked by the build: every light fades to nothing before the edge of its file, radial lights and cones only get darker away from their centre, and every animation loops without a jump.
  • One JSON (lights.json): every file with its size, origin, frames, fps and colour, plus Godot and Unity notes in the README.
  • A Godot 4 demo (a small project and one script): PointLight2D nodes with these files, a flashlight cone turned about its origin and an animated torch. Tested in Godot 4.7.2; one screenshot is Godot's own render.

The screenshots light rooms from Gridwright Isometric Haunted Mansion (sold separately; not included) with these textures and animations.

What it does not include

No shader, no lighting engine and no shadows cast by walls: these are textures and sprites for the light nodes and blend modes your engine already has. The Godot demo is a test scene, not a game; the README explains the Unity set-up.

Licence

Use and modify in personal and commercial projects. Shipping the files inside your game is fine. No resale or redistribution of the assets, modified or not. Credit is appreciated, not required. Not for AI training or NFTs.

How it was made

Every light is computed by code: an intensity field per light (falloff curves, cones, window shapes swept along the light, rays from a point above), sampled on the pixel grid and banded for the pixel style; the animations are built from whole-number harmonics so every loop closes. The code was written with AI-assisted tools. No image generator was used, and no third-party art is included.
