Side-View Characters cover

What's in the pack

10 side-view 32x32 pixel art characters with 8 animations each: idle, walk, run, jump, fall, attack, hurt and death (34 frames), facing right and left. Heroes and enemies for platformers, metroidvanias and side-view action RPGs.

Licence in one line: use them in your commercial games; do not resell the files.

What you get

  • 6 heroes: Knight, Swordswoman, Archer, Mage, Rogue, Barbarian.
  • 4 enemies: Skeleton, Goblin, Orc, Zombie.
  • Every character: idle 4, walk 6, run 6, jump 3, fall 2, attack 5, hurt 3, death 5 frames, facing right and facing left (68 frames).
  • Attacks per weapon: sword slash with a swing smear, axe chop, spiked club smash, dagger stab, claw swipe, bow draw and release, staff cast.
  • 27 effect frames: arrow, fireball (4 frames) and fire impact, hit spark, landing dust and running dust.

Made to drop in

  • One exact frame size: 32x32, feet on the bottom rows, the same pivot (bottom-centre) in every frame, so nothing slides when an animation changes.
  • One sheet per character in the same layout (6 x 16 frames), plus every frame as its own PNG.
  • JSON for every sheet: frame rectangles per animation and facing, fps, loop, pivot, the attack's hit frame and hitbox, and the spawn point for the arrow and the fireball.
  • 1x, 2x and 3x of everything, and a GIF of every character.

Not included (so you know)

  • Side view only, no top-down directions (see Gridwright Top-Down Characters for those).
  • One attack per character; no dash, roll, wall or ledge moves.
  • No Aseprite source files and no separate outfit layers: each character ships whole.

The battle screenshot stands on the Gridwright Platformer Tileset (sold separately); every character and effect in it is from this pack.

Licence

Use and modify in personal and commercial projects. Shipping the sprites inside your game is fine. No resale or redistribution of the assets, modified or not. Credit is appreciated, not required. Not for AI training or NFTs.

How it was made

Every frame is drawn by code: one rig per character (a typed head and body, posed arms, legs and weapons), with an outline added around each silhouette. The code was written with AI-assisted tools. No image generator was used, and no third-party art is included.
