What's in the pack
A survival-horror pixel art GUI and HUD on a strict 16x16 grid: 68 sprites in each of 4 themes (Rust, Occult, Clinic, VHS) plus 325 shared sprites, 597 sprites in all. For survival horror, psychological horror, found-footage, zombie and escape games, in 2D or behind a retro 3D (PSX) view.
Licence in one line: use it in your commercial games; do not resell the files. No credit required.
The screens a survival horror game needs
- Inventory: slots in 7 states (normal, hover, selected, empty, locked, equipped, combine), combine plus and arrow, a count tag and a 64x64 item inspection frame.
- 60 survival items at 16x16 and 32x32 (+ white versions): keys, keycard, herbs, bandage, pills, syringe, first aid kit, ammo, shells, magazine, knife, crowbar, pipe, hammer, axe, pistol, revolver, shotgun, flashlight, battery, lighter, matches, candle, lantern, flare, cassette and VHS tapes, film roll, ink ribbon, camcorder, notes, photo, map piece, diary, fuse, crank, gear, valve, wrench, screwdriver, padlock, rope, doll, teddy bear, locket, crucifix, music box, skull, an eye in a jar, a ritual dagger, food, water, radio, gas can, tarot card.
- items.json with every item's name, examine text and category, plus 9 combine recipes (flashlight + battery, revolver + bullet, herb + bandage...).
- An ECG health monitor in Fine, Caution and Danger, 4 looping frames each, and a flatline.
- Sanity, fear, stamina and battery meters (with a sanity flicker), a flashlight battery in 5 levels with a low-battery blink, an ammo counter.
- Files: a lined note, a torn and stained note, a sealed letter, a form on a clipboard, an instant photo and a plain 9-slice paper.
- A typewriter save screen: the typewriter, save slots and the ink ribbon item.
- A map kit: room cells in 3 states (unexplored, explored, danger) x 16 wall joins, so rooms of any shape join by themselves, open and locked doors, the player arrow in 4 directions, stairs, save room, item and unknown markers (61 sprites).
- A camcorder HUD for found-footage games: blinking REC, battery, viewfinder corners, zoom bar, timestamp digits, AM/PM, PLAY/PAUSE/STOP/NIGHT, VHS tracking noise and scanlines (39 sprites).
- GAME OVER with dripping letters, CONTINUE?, SAVED and an animated blood drip.
- Dialogue box, name plate, choice highlight, animated next arrow, key caps with white letters (E F Q R I M X Z TAB ESC), 4 cursors (arrow, hand, examine, look).
4 themes, one layout
Rust: riveted iron with hazard-stripe corners and amber accents. Occult: dark wood and brass, corner discs with a watching eye, blood red accents. Clinic: chipped white enamel, screws and a teal plus. VHS: black camcorder plastic with white viewfinder brackets and red REC dots. Every theme has the same sprites, the same file names and the same sheet layout, so you reskin a whole UI by swapping one folder. They are not recolours: each theme has its own corner ornament, border profile and accent colour.
Per theme: panels 7, buttons 13, inventory 10, ECG monitor 13, meters 10, save 2, dialogue 8, ornaments 5.
Made to drop in
- Strict 16x16 grid: every sprite is a multiple of 16 px, for 320x180, 480x270 and 640x360 games.
- 9-slice ready: the ornaments live in the corner cells, so panels, bars, buttons and save slots stretch to any size. The margins, content areas, sockets and cursor hotspots are in the JSON.
- Every sprite as its own PNG and on a sprite sheet with a JSON map, at 1x, 2x and 3x, plus palettes (.hex, .gpl) and a README with the ECG, bar, map, camcorder and save recipes.
- The screenshots use only this pack's sprites; the corridor behind them is a preview drawn for the page, and the descriptions are our preview font (not included).
What it does not include
No font, characters, backgrounds or sound, no engine project or Unity package, no Aseprite files. The art is drawn at 1x; the 2x and 3x files are scaled copies, and the 32x32 items are smoothed from the 16x16 drawings.
Licence
Use and modify in personal and commercial projects. Shipping the sprites inside your game is fine. No resale or redistribution of the assets, modified or not. Credit is appreciated, not required. Not for AI training or NFTs.
How it was made
Every sprite is drawn by code: frames are peeled ring by ring from exact masks, the items and cursors are typed as material maps and shaded by code, and the ECG traces are computed from a heartbeat curve. The code was written with AI-assisted tools. No image generator was used, and no third-party art or fonts are included.
