Godot 4 blurs pixel art by default. A few project settings fix that for good.
1. Turn off texture filtering
In Project Settings, set Rendering > Textures > Default Texture Filter to Nearest. Every sprite now renders with hard pixel edges.
2. Set a base resolution and integer scaling
Set the viewport size to your base resolution, the stretch mode to viewport and the scale mode to integer. That keeps every pixel the same size on any screen.
3. Slice the sprite sheet
Add an AnimatedSprite2D, create SpriteFrames, and use Add Frames from Sprite Sheet. Enter the cell size from the pack README and select the frames for each animation.
4. Use the JSON map
- Every Gridwright sheet ships with a JSON file listing frames per animation.
- Read it in a small script to build SpriteFrames automatically.
- This saves hours on 8-direction characters with many animations.
